Rest and be thankful.
One of my favourite spots in Scotland. Many a traveller and soldier has passed through these roads, throughout the centuries, on their journeys. The old military road can be viewed while sitting on the stool looking down. Rest and be thankful is named by soldiers who inscribed the words on a nearby stone in the 1740âs. The original stone was replaced by the one seen today.
When passing, do try and stop here, indeed rest and be thankful. Feel the Scottish air, the freshness of the nature around you. Take in the views, the rolling hills and as many shades of green as the eyes can see. Listen to your surrounding as you rest on the seat. Touch the seat, used by many, in this space, connecting us all. Think about this shared experience. Breathe in thankfulness for the moment.

What a view that is. It really must be something to sit there and think of all the people who have been in that same spot looking at that same view.
Extraordinary, all of it: the history, the message, and the metaphor. ððĶĒð
